This vintage midcentury modern hillside house had extraordinary bones and strong geometries. But the inherent beauty was obscured by clutter, and the building needed the MP special sauce: love and attention. Walls were removed to allow abundant daylight to suffuse the space and to visually connect the living areas.

Now, the rich textures of wood, concrete, raw plaster and blackened steel catch the play of light entering the generous windows. The success of this remodel was heightened by our collaboration with the homeowner, a renowned bay Area craftsman who engaged enthusiastically on decisions of form and materials.
